You're right ... the only way out is through it. I've heard it referred to as a room with 1000 demons, and we have to cross the room.

I also want to remind you that your feelings are what they are ... they're neither "good" nor "bad" ... they are what they are. The only thing that can be "good" or "bad" is how we respond to our feelings. It is okay to feel your feelings ... in fact, it can be quite cathartic. I think your response, to write about your anger, is perfectly appropriate.

I'm sorry your parents haven't been there for you in the way you'd like them to be. Remember that you do not have to be defined by your parents ... you are you, and it sounds like you're doing a wonderful job of taking care of your child and your inner child, too.

Yeh! Go for it Anne. I have so much anger stored up and I'm really reluctant to let it surface; but on the few occasions it has I have loved it, like a cool refreshing shower on a hot humid day.

I'm worried about the damage all this pent up anger in me could do if it was released but I guess the key is knowing what I'm angry about or who I am angry with so I can direct the missiles accurately (in your head if not in reality) rather than indescriminately. And to get this knowledge I have to go through, not around the swamp.
