I've tried a few different groups and always felt comfortable and safe with the other women. There were a few incidences that made me feel unsafe but they were quickly taken care of. One is with a therapist as a moderator and the other is a self help group. One had as many as 15 women and the other as little as 4. One group of women were more reserved, and the other more open. I like talking and listening to other people. I learn so much and it has helped me find solutions.  I was wondering if anyone had the same experiences.

I tried group therapy but it did not work for me as could not open up to them so kept it all lock up and did not say much.

i am just getting started in a support group. it is moderated by a therapist and is small.  i am still really nervous and i'm not sure how i am going to do with opening up to other people - i'm normally VERY reserved and quiet - but i like the group and i've been working really hard on my healing lately, so i am hopeful.  right now my plan is to just keep myself as open as i can and take it one step at a time.  so this reply, i guess, is to be continued...

I did not have group therapy but i did get help one on one from a very good therapist.

I will say that it saved my life. So if anyone is considering therapy don't just think of it get some help...

i am a big advocate of groups. especially closed therapy groups. so much stuff comes out in them, not just support but also the dynamics of how we are with each other, how we get triggered, how to learn new ways out of conflict. i got more out of group, hour for hour, than i did in one to one therapy, although it, for me, is not a substitute but an augment.
